The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) has a Chapter in Nebraska that serves the entire state. The Nebraska Chapter APDA consists of members that represent the Parkinson’s community at large. The Chapter has an Executive Board that consists of elected officers. Mary Egger is currently the President with Bev Baker, Treasurer and Mary Jane Peterson, Secretary. The Executive Board is composed of members from the medical professional field, corporate businesses and the general Chapter membership.
While the Information and Referral Center is the service arm of the national APDA, the Chapter is the fundraising and awareness arm. The two entities function as a partnership in providing Nebraska with resources, education and research opportunities. The primary goal of the Chapter is to raise support for ongoing Parkinson’s research, educational programs, and resources for Nebraska as well as the nation. The Annual Walk-a-thon is sponsored by the Chapter and all proceeds go to furthering research to aid in finding a cure for the disease. The Chapter also sponsors other fundraising and awareness activities throughout the year.
The Nebraska Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association continues to be the recipient of generous donations from the community. Many of these gifts are memorials made upon the death of a family member, friend or colleague. The Chapter also receives funds to honor the celebration of significant events in the lives of loved ones. All contributions are used in Nebraska for educational and supportive services and across the nation for Parkinson’s research. You can be a partner in easing the burden and finding a cure in a variety of ways while honoring a loved one.The following gifts can be made:
Memorial or Special Occasion Gifts To honor the memory of a deceased loved one or friend or to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. A card is sent to the designated person.
Restricted Gifts – Your gift can be applied for a designated purpose such as research, education, early-onset, publications, library, etc.
Matching Gifts – Many companies or corporations will match your gift and double or triple the amount realized to continue our mission.
