  Information Sessions Offered During Parkinson’s Awareness Month


To help increase awareness, APDA Nebraska is offering information sessions. Come and learn about resources available to those with Parkinson's.

April 8               “It’s a Colorful Life” – Bring a little color to your life. Come and experience the relaxing and confidence  building benefits of art while creating a fun and easy abstract to painting.

When: 10:00-12:00           Where: APDA Chapter 501 N 87th Street, Omaha

April 12 & 13     “Omaha Health Wellness & Fitness Expo”- Visit APDA Nebraska at the largest health expo in the region. Find information on various health and wellness services. No registration necessary- Admission cost to enter Omaha Health Expo

April 12             “Parkinson Research Updates”- Dr. Bertoni MD, PHD, Movement Disorder Specialist from UNMC will speak on health and wellness topics for those with Parkinson’s Disease and updates in Parkinson’s research. Admission Cost to enter Omaha Health Expo

April 14             “Strength and Balance”- Work on balance, posture, gait training, light strength training and flexibility. This class implements exercise techniques from the “Delay the Disease” Parkinson’s Fitness Program.

When: 12:00-2:00             Where: Fitness and Beyond, 1032 S 74th Plaza, Omaha

April 15              “Understanding Elder Law” – Learn more about Medicaid asset preservation, veterans’ benefits planning, adult guardianship and conservatorship, special needs trust and basic estate planning.

When: 10:00-11:30            Where: Bellevue Medical Center, lower level, Bellevue

April 22              “Keep Moving” - The Benefits of Skilled Therapy - Learn about physical, occupational and speech therapy including descriptions of LSVT LOUD and BIG as well as other therapy techniques.

When: 2:00-4:00                   Where: Life Care Center of Elkhorn, 20275 Hopper St

April 24             “Lakeside Wellness Center’s Medially integrated Delay the Disease Program”–Integration of physical therapy, speech therapy and Delay the Disease programming.

April 25             “UNO’s The Moving Company’s Dance in Chairs Program- Reach for it” - Participants will dance and have fun while working on balance, strength, coordination and flexibility for those with Parkinson’s Disease.
